Your first step would be to find the service manual for the stance, which would tell you everything you need to know about your fork BEFORE you open it up. http://www.manitoumtb.com/index.php?page=support&c=service-guides

A stance works Just fine. Riding is not about having an "argyle" or a "stance". And just for the record... The argyles are a very popular and well marketed fork, but compared to almost anything else(including x-fusion and suntour), they are heavy and usually find themselves being used almost* exclusively in skate parks or dirt jumps (I don't see either in India, Good luck riding an Argyle with firm springs down the Ghats!). That is, if you are really into dirt jumping... Anyway... Sorry for the rant. I don't actually know much about the stance itself. But I know that in general, you can adjust the travel on forks internally using spacers that control how far your upper legs go into the lowers. You can even "do it yourself" if you really want, It's not rocket science. You will probably find the spring in one leg and the damping cartridge/mechanism etc in the other leg, generally there will be a rod coming out of the uppers into the bottom of the fork, this is most likely where your spacer will be or where you will install one. Once you figure out how that works, it shouldn't be too hard. Jeevan from Chandigarh will know in more detail, you should ask him if you are really serious.
